How many hours do you spend on internet dating?

Internet dating is a massive business, catering for all sectors of the community. Teachers, firemen, single dads, single mams, the list goes on and on.

internet dating

But who has the time these days to sit night after night (or day after day) scrolling through profile after profile to see someone who firstly, you like the look of, and secondly, they have something in common with you?

Freedom of choice is great, but there are downsides to internet dating.

  • Are you prepared for the rejection? People who i have spoken to have had responses like “not in a million years” and “you are joking aren’t you?” And then there are the comments; “ you need to diet” “ I cannot stand red heads” and “ I don’t date old women” This might be hard to take if you really liked the person, or you did from their picture and profile anyway!
  • Which brings me onto the next downside. The photographs. It has been known for someone putting a picture of her sister up as she was better looking. Or they were from five years ago, and they swear down they have not changed, then why not put up a recent pic! From people I have spoken to, this is the biggest bug bear amongst internet daters.
  • The married men/ women. Now if this does not bother you then ok. But I thought the whole point of joining a dating site was to meet someone to spend the rest of your life with?
  • The people who want to e mail for weeks and never want to meet up! They are just passing time away sitting on their computers!
  • People who reply, night after night, with short answers… “I’m ok, how are you?” “What you been up to?” Can you really be bothered with this?
  • You realise you never make the effort to go out and socialise anymore. Why should you? You have loads more to chat ( virtual friends) on the computer!
  • The serial dater.. They don’t answer one night and then announce they were on a date, even though they had arranged to meet you at the weekend! And even worse, tell you how it went!
  • If you do eventually pin someone down to meet up, and they turn up as though they haven’t bothered about what they look like, even though you have spent the last hour and a half making sure you look your best because he/she might be ‘The One!’
  • And lastly, the men/ women who meet you, charm you, you get on well with, and they announce at the end of the night all they want is a sex buddy!

Would love to hear what is good about internet dating, apart from the choice of course!
